last day of summer (another)

23rd Sept
Another last day of Summer. Does it matter if we call a day summer or autumn? I dread the butterfly days slipping like sand through my fingers and to be faced with 6 months of grey skies and sleet. I hate the lifeless days of the arse-end of the year with the horrors of xmas as icing on the oh so chrismassy cake. And it all trundles towards us as soon as the summer light is snuffed out. The shops fill with the americanized holloween which we now celebrate for 3 weeks because the marketing people can shift more felt hats and plastic crap that can be ground down and tipped into the oceans. But who is putting gold fillings in the bunnies' molars?

today's finest!

Apparently if you wanted to see a little egret a while back you would have had to travel abroad. They look pretty like seagull/heron crosses to me but hey, I'll take a photo and run on.

who has been giving the bunnies gold teeth?

ruby tiger moth?

After googling: right so you get autumn crocus. The autumn crocus or meadow saffron is a member of the lily family (Liliaceae), not to be confused with its look alike, the spring-flowering crocus which is a member of the Iris family (Iridaceae). (Did not know that! Do now!)
