wet wetter wettest

Saturday 5th December was the Water of Leith Half and also the wettest day of the year. A quick check took me back to the wettest day of 2015 when I made a wee video of the WoL uprising which also turned out to be the 5th Dec so it has history. The WoL Half event went ahead despite all the elements. Because it doesn't take prisoners or let a little water stand in its way. Reports were of thigh high tides and frozen toes. I was too much a pussy to do the event (transport problems etc. to get to start; normal bus was not possible) but we went out for a gander at the Water (of Leith) anyway which got us out the door on a drizzly dreich day and injected a bit of excitement into this sodden Winter.

The St Marks Gormley was struggling to keep his head above water.

Powderhall flood defenses containing the rising river.

Canonmills riverside path under water!

Stockbridge Gormley only chest deep.
