As an adjunct to the last post I am going to post the youTube video here of the Hummers at Castle Fraser, shot there on the 18th Sept. Mary and I got super lucky to see them twice in 2 visits at nearly opposite ends of the season, end of June and mid September. Although they have been turning up regularly, I haven't photographed any this year in the Lothians.
First video is also on youTube and if you click on my name it should flag up all the videos I've posted. It will be interesting to see if they turn up again in the same gardens next season. This was the closest encounter I've had with this normally shy and flighty species and as a result the video is one of my best. (Hence my shameless promotion of it.)
Shot on the G9ii with OM Systems macro 90mm lens at 120fps.
(note at 4.15 and 5.33 droplets are ejected - where else can you get this groundbreaking material?!)
soundtrack: A Drifting Down / A Drifting Up by Jon Hopkins
