au revoir Auren!

Auren is going back to NZ and we gave him a send off with a run in the damp Pentlands today. It started out with rain jackets but they were on and off a couple of times, and later on there was even a patch of blue sky! Auren has been a regular on Carnethy socials and TB runs for quite some while and we will miss his cheery optimistic enthusiasm, bounce and NZ accent. With the wisdom of experience I ducked out of a couple of the more arduous things he gleefully signed up for and suggested I also sign up for. Some hideous overnighter down south through despicable terrain, and the odd 70 mile ultra. Today we did a mini skyline over Allermuir, Turnhouse and that end of the Pentos and it was lots of fun.

Saw this Autumnal offering in Morningside Gallery on the cycle there.

Although we started at Hillend the first time I got the camera out was this spot above Glencorse because it had been raining until then. We ran along to the descent near Flotterstone then climbed the road to the burnside path which I have completely forgotten and only know about from the gps trail. I must have been talking and not paying attention! Actually I might have been talking about butterflies. We then ran up Turnhouse which Eoin had hoped not to be doing for quite some while (following last week's Skyline.) From Turnhouse (blowy on top) we dropped back down, skirted Glencorse and took Maiden's Cleugh up to Harbour Hill, then back over Allermuir, Caerketton etc.

blue sky!

till next time Auren, it has been a blast!

Eoin took this photo.

just under 13miles
